Ceiling Systems

Concealed Ceiling System

Concealed ceiling systems use a variety of products which are used to create a stable substrate to which various types of boards can then be screw fixed. These systems can be fixed directly to supporting structures or suspended below them. Knauf plasterboard and ceiling linings offer a range of functional properties, depending on the design requirements. They can be used to achieve Fire Rating, Acoustic and Thermal barriers.

Direct Fixing Plasterboard Ceilings
There are a variety of systems that can be fixed directly to a supporting structure, which can then be sheeted with many types and multiple layers of board. Choosing the correct product for your project is the first step.

Fully Suspended Plasterboard Ceilings
These systems use clips and hangers in order to suspend a grid of Furring Channel and Top Cross Rails below a supporting structure which can then be sheeted with an appropriate board lining from the Knauf plasterboard or ceiling linings range. This allows the designer to bring the ceiling level down to the required height and provides space in the ceiling cavity for services such as air-conditioning.

Spanning Plasterboard Ceilings
These systems are designed using stud and track horizontally, which are fixed to supporting walls on either side. Typically used in corridors, bathrooms, kitchens and fire tunnels a spanning system can overcome a lack of supporting structure above by providing a ceiling joist to which Knauf plasterboard or other lining materials can then be fixed.
